Shannon McEvoy,

Artist

When I was five, my aunt asked me if I would like to be an artist when I grew up.  I looked at her, a bit puzzled, and said,

“I AM an artist.”

As humans, we are all artists.  We are creators.  Even if you don’t believe this is true for you, trust me - your artist self is inside you, waiting to be expressed.

Even though as a five-year-old I knew I was an artist, as I grew older the perfectionist in me would sometimes doubt if I had the “talent” to be a “true” artist.  So if you are feeling this way, I’ve been there.

Let’s clear this detrimental thought from human consciousness forever.  The antidote is to just keep making.

Part of my own artist mission is to help others unleash the power of their unique creative expression.  I would love to work with you!

Create with me!

Meet Shannon - the Artist

Whenever someone asks me what kind of art I do, answering is a bit of a challenge.  I love to make ALL the things: drawings, ceramics, sculpture, DIY crafts, beauty care products, oil/acrylic painting, jewelry, watercolor, murals, mosaics, knitting, crocheting, pie, fiber arts, installation, photography, my own clothes…. the list could go on FOREVER.

Thus, I call myself a multi-media artist, or just “artist.”

I’m usually working on multiple types of art projects at once, but the general progression of my work over the years has been from drawing to ceramics back to drawing and painting, then muralism, and, since 2014, mosaic murals.  Most recently, since 2018, I have also been creating handwoven mandalas.

Muralism has been a very important part of my work.  I wrote my undergraduate thesis on Latino/Latin American muralism and social change.  I have organized two large-scale murals, one in Minnesota and one in Chile; and I have contributed to several more in Minnesota, Chile, Colombia, and Germany.

I am ALWAYS interested in a mural project!  If you would like a mural for your space, get in touch with me so we can make some mural magic happen!

Me, age 3.  In the flow ;)
